1. Who provides the service
The services on matrikula.es are provided by Isabell Waese, tax ID Z2782690V (“Matrikula”). The remaining details are in the legal notice. These terms apply to everything ordered on the site. Some points only apply if you are a consumer, and they say so.
2. The services
2.1 Estimate and enquiry: free
We reply by email within 48 business hours with an estimate of the tax, the timeline and the cost of your case. It is for guidance only, commits you to nothing and is not a contract.
2.2 Document check: €80
We review the documents you upload and send you a written report within 48 business hours of the payment being confirmed. The report says whether the case is feasible, which documents are missing and how to get them, the tax calculated from your model's table and the estimated registration date. The report is yours, whether or not you continue with us.
When you obtain a missing document, we review it again at no extra charge. The €80 is credited against the full service if you order it, and does not expire. It is non-refundable: it is the price of that work, not a deposit or a reservation (see point 7).
2.3 Full service, vehicle from the EU or EEA: €1,480
Fixed price, VAT included. After the document check, €1,400 remains, payable when you order the full service and before any applications are filed. It includes:
- requesting the COC from the manufacturer;
- the reduced technical sheet, issued by a licensed engineer;
- the import ITV inspection appointment and fee;
- powers of attorney, forms and dealings with the authorities;
- the DGT registration fee;
- the number plates, sent to your address;
- calculating, filing and paying on your behalf the registration tax and the municipal vehicle tax (IVTM);
- assessing and applying for the change-of-residence exemption, where it applies.
Not included, and paid by you separately:
- the amount of the registration tax and the IVTM, assessed by the tax office and your town hall;
- the manufacturer's fee for the COC, at cost, if you do not already have it;
- individual type approval, at cost, only if the vehicle cannot have a COC;
- driving the car to the ITV, if you ask us to: €300 within a 50 km radius;
- deregistration in the country of origin, which is optional and quoted separately.
2.4 Vehicles from outside the EU: from €2,950
Also includes customs clearance and the customs declaration (DUA). Since the cost depends on the case, the exact price is set out in a written quote after the document check, and the contract is made when you accept it. Import duty and import VAT are not included.
2.5 Search and purchase in Germany
The market check is free and arrives within 24 business hours. We take on the order when it estimates a gross saving of €6,000 or more, on vehicles of €60,000 and above.
- Search fee, €300: starts the search and is credited against the success fee. If we cannot find an offer that beats yours by at least €6,000 gross, we refund the €300 in full.
- Success fee: 25% of the gross saving after deducting the service fee. Payable only if you buy the car we propose.
- Import and registration: €1,480, as in 2.3.
- Inspection and transport: at cost.
The purchase contract is signed between you and the seller. Matrikula does not sell the car and is not liable for it as a seller; we advise you and handle the purchase under the mandate you give us.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in euros and include VAT. Payment is made through Stripe with the methods it offers at the time, such as card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If the chosen method confirms the payment later, the service starts once the payment is confirmed. Stripe emails you the receipt and the invoice.
4. Timelines
The timelines we give are estimates and run from when your documents are complete. They partly depend on third parties —DGT, ITV, manufacturer, customs, town hall— and we are not liable for their delays, but we let you know as soon as we hear of them. “Business hours” means Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays in Spain.
5. What we need from you
- True information and genuine documents.
- Signing the authorisations and powers needed for Matrikula and the licensed administrative agent to act on your behalf.
- Paying the taxes that fall on you on time.
- Taking the car to the ITV, or having it available if you ask us to take it.
- Answering our questions during the procedure.
If a document turns out to be forged or information is untrue, we may stop the service and charge for the work done up to that point.
6. If the case is not feasible
If the document check concludes that the vehicle cannot be registered, we explain why in writing and the service ends there: you pay nothing more.
7. Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer, you may withdraw from the contract within 14 calendar days of making it, without giving any reason (Art. 102 of the Spanish consumer protection law, TRLGDCU). An email to [email protected] before the period ends is enough. You may use the model form at the end, but you do not have to.
Before payment, the form asks you to confirm that you want us to start straight away, within those 14 days, and that you understand what that means:
- Once the service has been fully performed, you can no longer withdraw (Art. 103.a). The document check is fully performed when we send you the report. That is why the €80 is not refunded once the report has been delivered.
- If you withdraw before the service is complete, you pay for the proportion of the work done up to the time you tell us (Art. 108.3), including anything we have already paid to third parties on your behalf, and we refund the rest.
Any refund is made within 14 days, using the same payment method you used. If you contract as a business or self-employed professional, there is no right of withdrawal.
8. Liability
The tax figures we give you are estimates; the final amount is set by the authorities. We are not liable for decisions of the authorities, for third-party fees, or for harm caused by incorrect information or documents you have given us. We are liable for doing our work with professional care. Towards businesses and professionals, our liability is limited to the price paid for the service, except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
9. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, write to [email protected]. We reply within one month. As a consumer you can also contact the consumer affairs office of your region. Matrikula does not take part in any consumer arbitration scheme.
10. Your data
We process your data as set out in the privacy policy.
11. Governing law and courts
The contract is governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, the courts where you live have jurisdiction, and if you live in another EU country you keep the protection your own country's law gives you. In all other cases, the courts where Matrikula is based.
12. Changes
Each contract is governed by the version of these terms in force on the day it is made.
